Rahul Gandhi Modifies His Twitter Profile After Parliament Disqualification

After his disqualification as a Member of Parliament, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has revised his Twitter bio. In the bio area that displays just below the account name, he has changed “Member of Parliament” with “Dis’Qualified MP.”

“This is Rahul Gandhi’s official account | Member of the Indian National Congress | Dis’Qualified MP,” his bio now says.

Nevertheless, his Congress party is conducting a day-long protest against his disqualification across the country today.

Mr Gandhi’s Lok Sabha membership was revoked after he was found guilty in a defamation case for making comments insinuating Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a criminal.

Rahul Gandhi yet to challenge the decision in a higher court.

“How come all thieves have Modi as the common surname?” he allegedly stated at a pre-election rally in Karnataka’s Kolar, a statement that the governing BJP saw as a smear campaign against individuals with the Modi surname and the backward population.

His words sparked many defamation lawsuits in other locations. On Thursday, a court in Gujarat, Prime Minister Modi’s home state, found him guilty and sentenced him to two years in prison. The judge, however, granted him bail for 30 days in order to appeal the verdict.
