Today, Congress leaders and workers will hold a day-long satyagraha to protest Rahul Gandhi’s removal from the Lok Parliament. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the satyagraha would be staged in front of Mahatma Gandhi monuments in all states and district headquarters. The satyagraha will be led by party president Mallikarjun Kharge and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra at Delhi’s Raj Ghat.
Rahul Gandhi was barred from running for the Lok Sabha after a Surat court sentenced him to two years in prison in a defamation case on Thursday. A day later, he attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating the PM was “scared” and did not want him to make another address in Parliament on businessman Gautam Adani.
However, the BJP has framed Gandhi’s statements against the surname Modi, for which he was jailed, as anti-OBC. The party intends to run a campaign on this from April 6 to 14.
