Amritpal Singh may attempt to leave via Nepal,’ India warns Kathmandu.

The Indian embassy requested that the Nepal government “deny Amritpal Singh permission to transit via Nepal for any third nation.”
The Indian embassy in Kathmandu has warned the Nepal authorities that fugitive extremist preacher Amritpal Singh may attempt to enter the country using a forged passport.
A note verbale or unsigned diplomatic correspondence sent by the Indian embassy to Nepal’s foreign ministry’s department of consular services and the department of immigration warned that Singh, the subject of a “Look Out Circular” in India, “may try to escape through Nepal on an Indian passport or any other country’s fake passport.”

The Indian embassy requested that the Nepal government “deny Amritpal Singh permission to transit via Nepal for any third nation.” It further ordered Nepalese officials to “arrest Amritpal Singh if he tries to flee Nepal using [an] Indian passport or any other fake passport,” and to notify the Indian mission.

Singh is the target of a huge manhunt that is now taking place across Punjab. Around 100 persons have been detained as a result of the Punjab Police raid against Singh, the head of Waris Punjab De, and his supporters. Singh is a supporter of the separatist Khalistan cause.

The crackdown has been followed by protests by pro-Khalistan organizations in Australia, Canada, the UK, and the US.

India has raised strong objections with Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States in response to these protests and the vandalism of its diplomatic facilities in these countries.

Amritpal has been missing since a Punjab Police crackdown on him and members of his ‘Waris Punjab De’ gang began on March 18.
